Here’s the complete announcement from Florida Venture Sourcing:

I’m excited to announce Catalyst, a 7,000 sq. ft. collaborative shared workspace for entrepreneurs, startups, freelancers, and independent creative class professionals, opening late this summer on the 5th floor of the historic Yowell-Duckworth Building (1914) at 1 South Orange Avenue in the heart of downtown Orlando.

History

Catalyst is another step in our mission to foster entrepreneurship in Florida.  We began in October 2011 with a website and newsletter. In May 2012 we started our quarterly startup pitch and networking event, VenturePitch Orlando. That September we partnered with the Center for Advanced Entrepreneurship at Rollins College to moderate a monthly Dialogue with Bill Grimm about Angel Investing for Advanced Entrepreneurs.  During this same time we started developing a plan to accelerated business and career growth by

bringing together a creative collaborative community in an inspiring workspace where serendipitous member “collisions”, connections, assistance, relationships, and discoveries of knowledge would spark innovation and creativity. That plan has come to fruition in Catalyst.

Functional Workspace

Catalyst offers a combination of open workspace with both shared and dedicated desks, private office space, conference rooms with video conferencing capability, craft coffee bar, and lounge, along with high-speed internet connectivity, on a modest monthly membership basis with no long term contract. In addition, the workspace will offer its members educational workshops and presentations on topics focused on innovation, starting up, and accelerating business growth, opportunities to connect with fellow entrepreneurs and develop relationships with key technology and business leaders, and access to talent, office hours with advisors, mentors, startup service providers, and angel and venture capital investors.

Inspiring Workspace

With exposed brick walls, high ceilings, wood floors, a craft coffee café, and cool functional furniture, Catalyst will be the most inspiring workspace in Orlando.

Where Relationships Are Born

“It’s been said that the easy part is starting the company, but the hard part is growing the company.  Having served as counsel to many successful entrepreneurs during my 39 years as a securities lawyer and having experienced successes and failures as an angel investor, I’ve observed how important it is for entrepreneurs to develop relationships in the growth phase of a company.  Catalyst is the place where these relationships will be born.”

Bill Grimm, Professor of Practice in Entrepreneurial Finance and Negotiation at the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College and author of What Entrepreneurs Need to Know: Avoiding Big Mistakes That Can Prevent Success.
