An Orlando couple is raising funds to open a gamer-themed bar called Joysticks.

Their goal is to create the “ultimate arcade lounge and retro bar” that features retro arcade games, live music and fun decor. Their wishlist includes cosplay nights, pinball machines, skee ball and air hockey.

One of the owners, Jeffrey Stelter, has had a 15-year career creating props and scenery for the theme park industry, like Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, Star Wars Weekend  sets and the recent expansions of Harry Potter‘s Diagon Alley and Fantasyland.

Stelter and his partner, Addie Hassel have already signed a lease in downtown Orlando but still need to raise more funds for the build-out.

The campaign ends on May 17.

  1. There is also The Geek Easy and The Cloak & Blaster. What is the problem? The more the merrier.

  2. Unfortunately as Bungalower grows you will see more of these pessimistic / criticize everything local people.

  3. There is only 1 arcade in this city worth crowdfunding, and that’s the resurrection of Rockys Replay.

  4. Everybody wants a handout. Let’s get back to working and saving for what we want. That’s how this country was built.

  5. It was more of a rhetorical question. We used to sell shares of stock to investors so they owned a piece of the business in which they were investing.

  6. We already have this with Bart…and they’ve trimmed the fat from what this bar wants to offer. Also, trying to bring the cosplay crowd downtown probably isn’t going to work. We can’t even keep the goths happy.
