Healthy Central Florida is inviting residents and nonprofits to an upcoming workshop about ten mini-grants of $2,500 that improve the health of Eatonville, Maitland and Winter Park residents.

The initiatives to be supported must promote wellness in one of four areas: physical activity, healthy food access, happiness/social connections, or smoke-free public spaces.

Featured speaker, “gangster gardener” Ron Finley, is the co-founder of LA Green Grounds (Website), a group that plants gardens in low-income Los Angeles communities to promote healthy eating.
Previous projects that have been funded by Healthy Central Florida mini-grants include the Winter Park Public Library Bike Checkout program, fleet farming, and a restored greenhouse in Eatonville.

The workshop is 8-10 a.m. Thursday, May 28 at the Enzian Theater [Gmap].
