The Central Florida Commission on Homelessness (Website), a non-profit organization committed to finding solutions for ending homelessness, has released a plan to offer long-term support and stability to homeless veterans in Central Florida.
In collaboration with the local Veterans Affairs and Homeless Services Network, the plan includes a “Surge” outreach initiative to locate every homeless veteran in Central Florida. The “Surge” count will take place across the region during the week of July 20. Community advocates will lead hundreds of volunteers in an effort to identify homeless veterans in need.

The City of Orlando and Orange County government recently announced that they were committed to ending veteran homelessness in Central Florida by the end of the year.
