In an effort to observe the 14th anniversary of 9/11, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, local volunteers, and the Camaraderie Foundation will be covering the lawn of the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts with 17,000 American flags.
According to a press release issued by City Hall, more thatn 85,000 Central Florida residents have been deployed to the United States Military since September 11, 2001. 17,000 of those service members have returned home with Traumatic Brain Injury and/or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Event coordinators are still accepting volunteers for tomorrow’s event, which will run from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. Interested parties can email Marnie Waldrop at [email protected]
