Last week we wrote about a bald eagle being spotted in a cell tower located in the center of Ivanhoe Village’s upcoming Yard at Ivanhoe Village development. At the time we had not heard back from the team at Real Estate Inverlad, the developers behind the project.

We now have their following statement:

The developers of The Yard appreciate the community and The Bungalower for their efforts in making us aware of the recent observations of bald eagles on the cell tower.  Ospreys were documented nesting on the cell tower in April 2015.  The Yard retained the services of a local environmental consultant to ensure the project was compliant with the regulations regarding the osprey nest.  Based on the recent observations, The Yard requested its environmental consulting firm begin monitoring any bald eagles’ activities on or in the vicinity of the site.  To date, the eagles have only been observed perched on the tower and have not been observed conducting nest building activities.  The Yard and their consultants have contacted the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to apprise them of the situation.  The Yard has been advised by the regulating agencies that no permits or site restrictions are necessary unless the eagles exhibit nesting behavior.  If the eagles are observed exhibiting nesting behavior, The Yard will seek the appropriate and necessary permits and comply with regulatory guidelines.  The developers of The Yard are dedicated to the conservation and protection of listed species.
