Airport Expansion Equals Economic Impact
“As part of its capital improvement plan, the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) Board recently approved the south terminal expansion which will allow us to better serve our residents, businesses and the more 38 million business and leisure visitors who travel through our Orlando International Airport each year.

This expansion will also allow us to pursue new domestic and international air service routes, allowing us to grow our visitor base, attract new businesses that need to be near a well-connected airport and pursue more conventions and events, which in turn brings new jobs and opportunities to Orlando.

Simply put, more flights means more visitors, spending more money in our community. Each overseas visitor infuses nearly $1,000 into our economy during their visit by dining in our restaurants, shopping in our malls and Main Streets and visiting our world-class attractions and entertainment options. In fact, spending by visitors to Orlando is larger than the entire U.S. organic food industry, which is valued at nearly $32 billion.

The easier we can make it for travelers to get to and from Orlando, the greater impact on our economy, the future of our community and the potential for jobs to be created for residents. I am proud to serve on the GOAA Board and to voice my support for the airport’s growth and south terminal expansion.

– Buddy Dyer, Mayor”
