Txokos  Basque Kitchen (Website) is closing.

According to East End Market owner, John Rife, the current owners (who took over in September, 2015) are looking to sell all assets as well as their lease, and move onto their next project.

Rife stated that whatever replaces them will not be the Txokos name/brand and that some parties have expressed interest, but nothing is public yet.

The timeline for the closing seems up in the air at the moment, with employees saying two weeks and others saying the next couple of days. We have yet to hear back from Txokos management with any specifics.

We wrote about the East End sit-down restaurant opening back in March of 2014, HERE.

  1. The Salgados sold it when a space in a marina (that they can move Spanish River Grill to) suddenly opened up. They needed to free up cash to secure the spot and pay for renos, etc.

  2. Yeah, I don’t know about all that. I really liked the place under the original owners.

  3. “Move onto their next project” ?? They just opened! I’m always interested to know about the intricacies of small business loans etc to see how many of these restaurateurs just get loans or small business funding from the government, get a nice sum one year, pay themselves handsomely, write off a bunch of stuff for tax purposes, and then close up shop. It seems to happen more often than not.

  4. Still surprised about this. Food was always fantastic and restaurant was always busy. Too bad 🙁
