A group of Hawaiians, representing the Cynthia Rose Foundation (Website) visited Orlando today to deliver a hand-made, mile-long lei, to the memorial at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.
The massive lei, broken into three separate segments, was delivered presented to Orlando at a 2 p.m. ceremony in front of the Center. The lei has 49 shells woven into it, representing the 49 victims of the shooting at Pulse nightclub.
A transplanted Orlando resident, Tom Zaizar, who now lives in Maui, was in the ceremonial party that gifted the lei, and endless aloha from the island state, today.
This is one of three segments. Together, all three are supposed to add up to a mile.
I think your source was incorrect. A mile-long lei? That’s almost 5,300 feet.
That is awesome
This was such a powerful gift. I happened to drive by pulse at the time they were presenting the lei. I will never forget that sight❤️????? #orlandostrong
