“Hey Bungalower, what’s up with Minnesota Avenue? It’s horrendous. Why hasn’t the City fixed it yet?” – Anonymous Bungalower reader
Minnesota Avenue happens to run through three separate jurisdictions; Orange County, the City of Orlando, and the City of Winter Park.
The City of Orlando’s piece runs from the east right-of-way line of Formosa to the east right-of-way line of Clay, the piece due north of Calvary Assembly. The resurfacing of this section is planned for FY16-17 (the next fiscal year) but this could change based on the results of the upcoming Pavement Condition Index Survey that is currently out as an RFP. According to the Mayor’s office should know in the first quarter of FY16-17.
The City of Winter Park is repaving the portion that falls within their city limits, from US Hwy. 17-92 west to just before Nicolet, within the next month (July).
The remaining portion of the road, as we said above, falls in unincorporated Orange County. At the time of this post we are not sure of their plans.
This is one of the most asinine reasons I have ever heard of for not repairing a road. Seriously?
They need to add room for bikes!
About freaking time. They need to change the WHOLE avenue to the same width as the Winter Park section…
Like yesterday.
