Hawker’s Asian Street Fare (Facebook | Website) applied for assistance through the City of Orlando Small Business Facade program to help fund a new metal awning over their existing patio area, new fencing, new landscaping, and a new paint job. The total estimated cost of the improvements is $70,000.

The image submitted t the City for approval, the one pictured above, is really of their St. Petersburg location. We’re assuming they submitted the rendering as an example of their proposed metal awning for their patio. There is nothing in the application that would suggest replacing the roof of their current building, pictured below.

The City’s Small Business Facade Review Committee has recommended approval of funding in the amount of $20,000. The SBFP is an interest free deferred loan for facade improvements to new and existing commercial property in the City of Orlando, where the City will loan 50 percent of the total project cost.

We’ve reached out to Hawker’s for a construction timeline and on if they predict the work will affect business in the near future. We will update this post as soon as we hear back.

  3. We say that in the writeup Scott Redmon. The image was in their application, we’re assuming because of the proposed awning over their patio.
