Two comfort dogs, and their human handlers, were shot this past Saturday in Joplin, Missouri.
The canines in question were part of the therapy dogs team from Lutheran Church Charities (Website) that visited countless Orlandoans in need, following the Pulse shootings. A van carrying the dogs and three church members was caught in gunfire as they left the Immanuel Lutheran Church, shortly after 5 a.m. on Saturday.
Both the dogs and the three passengers in the van were struck by gunfire, all are recovering. Kenneth Eby, the driver of the van is in critical condition, one dog was shot in the neck and has already received surgery.
You’re welcome! I just had to know. U0001f49c
I am heartbroken! What is wrong with people. …
I followed the links to the church’s web site. All the dogs and people are doing well. They mention also that while in the hospital one of the guys was found to have a blocked artery that he didn’t know about. Having to go to the hospital for this incident may have saved his life from an inevitable heart attack. God’s Work, they called it.
I met them!! U0001f622U0001f622
WTF is wrong with people?
‘Caught in gunfire’. Would like more of the story there.
What the hell. Why would someone do this? I know it’s not a mass shooting but they’re just as much terrorists as anyone else. Obviously premeditated and for what reason?
I played with a golden at the center. Not sure if one in the same. Breaks my heart.
No words! U0001f415
Nancy Rosado I just can’t …
So incredibly sad. I met these sweet dogs when they were here.
Gosh. And also the three humans riding with the dogs were shot.
This is terrible.
Oh no! Amy Morton did you see this?
