A ten-day art project culminating in dozens of new murals in St. Petersburg has just come to a close, so we made a pilgrimage to the Gulf Coast to get a look at the results late last week.
Shine on St Pete is a collaborative effort by multiple art-inclined movers and shakers in the area, click HERE to get their names. The festival sees artists from all over the country descending on downtown St. Petersburg to transform bare walls up and down their quaint Main Street. We’d love to see a Shine on Orlando in the near future. Call us if you need some help.
Below are photos of what we saw while walking through St. Pet’s mural zone. Many of the murals pictured were created either last year or through other initiatives. To see a complete list of this year’s murals and their locations, click HERE.
Would love to see this in Orlando. Noticed a bunch of those at the last Rays game I went too. Make it happen!
I’m in! I love St. Pete and have been running up the back ally’s of 1st street for the past few years enjoying all the new pieces. Bring to Orlando please! How can we help?
When is the bike tour? I would love to partner in making this happen.
I know Amanda Lindsay and I want to help in every way possible to bring this to Orlando. Let us know how we can help make the dream a reality!
I would totally help set this up! We have to do it!
Sign me up for the bike tour!!
Loved this one Katie Collins Bray!!
Let’s do it Orlando! We had a blast checking this out with support from Red Bull, one of Shine’s sponsors. During the last day of the Festival, we took a trip with board members and staff from Downtown Arts District Orlando , United Arts of Central Florida, and Orlando Main Streets / Thornton Park District / Downtown South. We got really great insight into how this event got started and how it’s grown in just 2 years. We’re planning another trip back for the bike tour. We’d love the company of more Orlandoans who want to bring this back to the City Beautiful!
Lisa Cuatt, we were just talking about this!!
