UPDATE – CITY OF ORLANDO – LAKE ALERT FOR LAKE ROWENA – LIFTED

An “undetermined volume” of sanitary waste was released into ake Rowena when a bypass hose came out of a manhole at a nearby City Lift Station. Lift Station #3 is located on the shore of Lake Rowena by Loch Haven Park and has been under construction for a number of months.

In response to the spill, the City’s contractor has installed floating turbidity barriers in the waterway in the hopes of lessening the impact of the spill on the lake. Warning signs have been placed in the immediate area as well.

The City is advising that all water contact activities cease until further notice. For more information, please contact Athena Tipaldos at athena.tipaldos@cityoforlando.net.
