The groundbreaking of Steinmetz Hall, the long-awaited second-phase of the Dr. Phillips Performing Arts Center, was held on March 6, and construction has already begun.

The 1,700 SF acoustical hall will feature three tiers as well as a moving shell and towers that will shift depending on each performance.

Check out this video by our friends at BIGEYE Agency (Website) showing the demolition of the Round Building back in September, 2014. The ornate exterior pieces of the building is called a bries soleil (or sun breaker) and was stored by the City for future use. No decision has been made at this time, regarding their future home. Only a few of the panels were damaged during removal from the building.
