The City’s Creative Village Development Review Committee has issued a recommendation for approval on plans submitted for a building that will anchor UCF’s Downtown campus (Website).

The Dr. Phillips Academic Commons is the first building to reach this point in the planning process of the long-awaited Downtown campus for UCF and Valencia, which is part of the larger Creative Village development.  The project is expected to bring roughly 8,000 students to Downtown Orlando and Parramore once open.

The plans for the Dr. Phillips Academic Commons include:

  • Four stories of “active learning” space along the newly realigned Livingston Street.
  • A three-story glass bridge connecting two wings of the building, that also serves as space for computer and tutoring labs, offices, and more.
  • An outdoor courtyard serving as a central meeting space.
  • Thirty-five classrooms, a library, a technology commons, and a tutoring and writing center.

The campus is expeted to open in Fall 2019.
