Jim Philips of Real Radio 104.1’s “The Philips Phile,” has announced that he will be retiring in January 2018.

The program has aired for the past 30 years, providing a platform for real-world, tongue-in-cheek dialogue on local and national topics and headlines.

The announcement was made on air on June 20, 2017, which you can listen to below. The actual announcement takes place at the 81:41 mark. Philips said,

“It’s time for me to retire. And reinvent the rest of my life.”

He went on to reveal that he would be turning 70-years-old in November and that he felt the need to reinvent himself and do something else. It’s unclear at this time what will take the current “The Philips File” slot, which runs every work day from 3 to 7 p.m.

Editor’s Note: Mr. Philips, you “old goat,” we heard how much you love Daniel Day Lewis in Last of the Mohicans. Whatever you do next, we wanted you to know,

  1. You gave Orlando a palatable flavor of rationale, culture, passion, and intellect for me in this otherwise backwoods swill of a town, no state. All the best in your future adventures.

  2. Damn. That’s crazy. He’s a staple of the Orlando Community. Definitely losing a great guy. Wish him all the best in retirement.
