The Orlando Fire Department’s Bomb Squad division has requested approval to purchase an ANDROS FX™ Unmanned Ground Vehicle.

The “hazardous duty robot” is made by only one company, ROMOTEC, Inc., and is expected to cost $300,036. These types of machines are used deal with IEDs and other explosive threats. This specific model is known for its mobility and high dexterity.

The purchase is recommended for approval at the August 8 City Council meeting.
