Orlando’s newest opera company, Opera del Sol (Facebook | Website), was launched this past June and is ramping up for their first fully-staged and scripted production, Opera Wars.

Opera del Sol is meant to be a more immersive set of pop-up, cross-disciplinary performances that take place outside of the traditional opera house and in more accessible venues. Opera Wars is literally a space opera, and features music from established operas set to a new story of “love, conflict … and spaceships.” So basically a musical episode of Battlestar Galactica.
The show begins at 7 p.m. on November 24 and 25 at the Abbey, located at 100 S. Eola Drive [GMap]. There is also a Saturday matinee at 1 p.m.
