UPDATE: Lake Alert for Park Lake – LIFTED January 22, 2018

UPDATE: The Stormwater Division has assessed that the recent sewage leak is not the cause of the elevated fecal coliform counts in the lake and is working to assess the cause.

The City of Orando’s Streets and Stormwater Division has issued a Lake Alert for Park Lake, due to a concern over possible elevated fecal coliform counts due to a sanitary sewer overflow.

The leak was caused by a grease blockage in a sanitary line near the intersection of Hyer Avenue and Park Lake Street [GMap].

The leak caused an estimated 20 gallons of sewage to be discharged into the stormwater system that flows into Park Lake.

The City is advising that all water contact activities cease until further notice. For further information regarding the sewer discharge, please contact Athena Tipaldos, Water Reclamation Compliance Manager, at athena.tipaldos@cityoforlando.net.
