Tampa-based city-shapers DeBartolo Development (Website) has the long-term leasehold interest on the mall building under contract for the Orlando Fashion Square Mall, and is expected to close in February.

The company is currently in just the early fact-finding/due diligence phase with the City of Orlando, discovering what sort of development options they have if they move forward. Nothing official has been filed.

Existing zoning and permissions that have already been granted to the property would allow for some very high-density development.

DeBartolo was part of the developer team behind mixed-use development Mills Park but sold it in mid-2016 for just under $30 million.

This is a developing story.
