Thornton Park Main Street is mural’ing up their parking garage

The Thornton Park Main Street District has issued a Call to Artists to participate in their next public art project, a series of murals in the Thornton Park Central Parking Garage.

The murals will adorn the bottom level of the garage, located at 120 N. Eola Drive [GMap]. The theme of the installation is “Our Story” or rather, the story of Thornton Park.

Up to 18 artists will be chosen by the Main Street’s Design Team to participate in the project. Selected artists will be paid $250 for time and materials; Porter Paints is offering a 30 percent discount to participating artists.

Wall dimensions vary:

• 12’x20′ entry walls
• 10 wall spaces with window at 13’x20′
• 2 spaces at 7.5’x20′
• 2 spaces at 8’x20′
• 2 spaces at 10’x20′

All submissions must be sent by February 1 in .jpeg form to [email protected] along with name, email, and cell number. Applicants must provide examples of their work.
