Central Florida Social Enterprise Accelerator‘s inaugural cohort of do-good businesses pitched for a $25,000 prize package Thursday night to a room full of local investors. The winner of the night was Omnimodal, a local tech company looking to make public transportation more accessible.

Onnimodal (Website) is an Orlando-based social tech enterprise looking to empower public transit riders with real-time data to make more informed decisions about how to commute from point A to point B.

The Accelerator was launched in 2017 by the Central Florida Foundation, Entrepreneurs in Action, Rollins College, Downtown Credo, Clean the World, and the City of Orlando. It provides mentorship, legal advice, and cash investment for local social entrepreneurs that tackle social, environmental, and economic challenges through their businesses models – while sill earning revenue.

Editor’s Note: It’s great to see local startups tackling the transportation issues in Orlando, especially since it’s one of the reasons we were overlooked by Amazon’s HQ2-hullabaloo.
