Edit: We originally published that the name of the childcare center partner was “Trinity Christian Church” but the correct name is “Trinity Christian Academy.”

The recently closed Reeves United Methodist Church in Colonialtown North has filed for a Conditional Use Permit to transition the use of their building into a childcare center.

Reeves United Methodist Church is located at 1100 N. Fern Creek Avenue [GMap] and has been in operations for roughly 100 years. They suddenly closed on Friday, April 14 after notifying their parishioners by email that Sunday services would not be hold until further notice. Read a report by Orlando Sentinel HERE.

According to paperwork filed with the City, Trinity Christian Academy would be relocating their current cohort of 75 children to the space with a maximum enrollment of up to 150 children, with an age maximum of 5-years old.

The new school will take up eight of the classrooms and a piece of the existing church building, but the church will remain untouched.

This project is scheduled to go before the Municipal Planning Board on May 15 at City Hall.
