UPDATE: The Mayor is unable to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony and will be replaced by District 5 Commissioner Regina Hill.

The Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando (Website) is partnering with Aloft Orlando (Website) to launch a new foster dog adoption program inside the Downtown hotel.

Aloft Orlando Downtown will house one dog at a time that can be permanently adopted by hotel guests and locals who visit. The dogs will live in their own custom-built dog house that looks just like the hotel, designed and built by RLF Architects of Orlando (Website).

The first dog to be a part of the innovative program is Mavis, a five-year-old Shih Tzu mix. She will be making her debut at a ribbon cutting at the hotel, overseen by Mayor Buddy Dyer. Event-goers can enjoy a Yappy Hour with dog-themed cocktails.

Aloft Orlando is located at 500 S. Orange Avenue [GMap] and the ribbon cutting takes place at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 23.

PS – This is Mavis.
