Representatives of the University Club announced yesterday that they had closed on their new home at Modera Central, the 22-story tower that was built on the grounds of their former building at 125 E. Pine Street [GMap].

The University Club of Orlando (Website) was founded in 1926 as a social network for local professionals. The former clubhouse, which was demolished to make way for Modera Central, held a small restaurant, bar, meeting rooms, and athletic facilities that were all available for member-use only.

The new clubhouse will spread out over 32,000 SF on the first four floors of the building. The first phase of construction on the interior is expected to begin on June 11, which will build-out roughly 25,000 SF of space. The budget is well over $4 million, according to club members. Features in the new space include:

  • An outdoor terrace overlooking Lake Eola and Downtown Orlando
  • A two-story, state-of-the-art athletic facility for cardio, weight training, racquetball, basketball, yoga, and more.
  • A spa
  • A dining room, bar, and lounge
  • A 55-seat meeting room

The clubhouse is expected to be open by December 2018. Scroll down to see detailed renderings of the interior.

Modera Central will also house 350 luxury apartments and groundfloor retail.
