Michael Owen, the artist behind the Baltimore Love Project (Website), came to Orlando in October 2016 to install a Pulse-inspired mural on the southern face of the local Einstein Bros Bagels, which we covered HERE.

The piece was made possible through a successful crowdfunding campaign and has been a popular selfie location ever since.

However, following a recent car accident, the building’s exterior was damaged and required some basic masonry work to be performed, leaving the mural as you see above.

However, prior to the mural being installed, Owen was required to take out a blanket insurance agreement in the case, you got it, a car damaged the wall. Which is exactly what happened.

Both the building owner and Einstein Bros have submitted insurance claims to the driver’s insurance company and are working with Owen’s team to add a secondary claim to cover the mural itself. Once they have received final confirmation from their insurance adjuster, they (Owen and his team) will be back in town to repair the mural.

This is the third piece of public art that has been damaged this year, that were created by out-of-town artists, but the only one that was covered by insurance.
