Cassi Alexandra, a freelance photojournalist, launched a photography project called We Are Family documenting the experiences of Orlandoans following the Pulse Nightclub shootings in 2016.

The series was based on 25 long-form interviews and portraits of a group of local religious leaders, survivors and their families, and civic and political figures. Alexandra also interviewed individuals that she used to attend Pulse with, nine years earlier.

The interviews and photographed have been compiled in a 9×12 photobook that she is raising money for on Kickstarter, to have printed. You can contribute to Alexandra’s goal by visiting her fundraising page HERE.

Alexandra, a queer documentary photographer, has had her work featured in The New York Times, NPR, and The Washington Post.
