The world already knows that Lin-Manuel Miranda, yes the Hamilton creator, and Alan Menken are collaborating on the score for the upcoming live-action The Little Mermaid, but nobody knows who will be playing the lead roles yet.
To get the ball rolling, a super-fan has launched a petition calling for Orlando’s own, Ginger Minj, to play the role of Ursula the Sea Witch. The best Disney villain ever. Go ahead and @ us.
The idea of a drag queen playing the role isn’t out in left field either, as the actual inspiration for the character was John Water’s muse, Divine, otherwise known as Glenn Millstead.
Joshua Eads Brown, the man behind the Ginger Minj makeup, won a Divine-themed acting challenge on her season of RuPaul’s Drag Race and is a talented singer and wowed viewers during her opening solo of “I Am What I Am” for Harvey Fierstein’s Trailblazer Honors performance.
