The recently closed Handy Pantry is currently being renovated and updated in order to house a new concept called “Eola General.”

Eola General is being led by Shaun Noonan of Dixie Dharma and Sean Kelley, the man behind the soon-to-open Sanford food hall, Henry’s Depot.

The space will be used to sell a curated assortment of local dry and cold goods. The old drink coolers left behind after Handy Pantry closed will house grab-and-go products by a different vendor in each case, including one by Dixie Dharma.

A new sandwich counter is being constructed so people will still be able to buy something made-to-order. The vendor who is running the counter has not been announced at this time.

Plans are also in motion to add a consumption permit and package store license as well as to reopen all of the original windows that were boarded up by the previous tenants and to activate the laneway behind the building.

Kelley told Bungalower that they are hoping to open by the end of the year.

Eola General located at 522 E. Amelia Street [GMap] in the heart of the Lake Eola Heights neighborhood.
