The Mennello Museum of American Art is thrilled to welcome curator, author, artists’ advocate and confidant to collectors, Michael Klein, to the museum on January 20 for an exhibition talk and walkthrough.
Klein’s talk, “Finding Grace”, addresses Grace Hartigan’s prominence and unique place in the 1950s New York School as a second-generation Abstract Expressionist — and as one of only a few pioneering women who were part of a generation that changed art in post-war America. Why and how is it that Hartigan and other women artists have been overlooked throughout history, and their contributions are often recognized posthumously?
