For 6 years, ReThinking the City has been dedicated to building a dialogue within our community and with changemakers around the country about the forces that shape cities and how we can participate in the positive change in our own city through arts, design, engagement, service, and enterprise.
In 2012 Patrick Greene invited Julian Chambliss and Eliza Harris (Juliano) to start a new group to talk about issues related to the city informed by their respective disciplines: art, urban history, and urban planning.
This June, we celebrate the 6th anniversary of this grassroots gathering with a special event meant to celebrate RTC’s Founders including seeing off Julian Chambliss who has recently accepted a position at Michigan State University and will be moving in July. Chambliss, a history professor at Rollins, has pushed the RTC program to grow and evolve since its beginnings at Urban ReThink. As one of RTC’s organizers, he has hosted programs that invited speakers from around the country to explore history, art, culture, and civic engagement with us.
Whether you are a long time RTC attendee or a friend of Julian, we invite you to this special ReThinking The City!
