Blue Star and management at The Venue have announced that they will close the popular Ivanhoe Village theatrical/burlesque space this fall.

The pending closure is a result of the second phase of development for the neighboring The Yard project which is transforming the former warehouse district into a new sky-high mixed-use neighborhood. Though Blue Star made it clear to Bungalower earlier today that the developer was not a “bad guy” in this scenario and they had even been offered a new home in the development, which she recently chose to turn down.

“We have a great relationship with The Yard, they’ve been great to us since becoming our landlords, We just don’t think our community theater feel would fit in this new development …” – Blue Star

The next phase of that project involves the out parcel that currently houses The Venue’s building, located at 511 Virginia Drive [GMap], which you can see from this early rendering of the development’s footprint, in the bottom, lefthand corner.

Blue announced that the closure of her Ivanhoe Village venue would take place on September 12, the seventh anniversary of The Venue’s opening, via social media earlier this evening.

Current programming and events up until that date will still be taking place and they are still available for private rentals. The Venue is also signed on to be a Bring Your Own venue for the upcoming Orlando International Fringe Theater Festival, May 14-27.

Blue and her team are actively looking for a new space in the Orlando area and she told Bungalower that she will be looking to make the company a 501 c 3 in the coming year.

Editor’s Note: The next phase, following The Yard at Ivanhoe, is The Yard – Crossman site, directly across the street on Virginia, which will completely surround The Hideaway Bar, which we last told you about HERE in 2016.
