Archaeologists recognize landscapes across the globe as the products of active, cultural modifications. In other words, within academic literature landscapes have been idealized as “…theater in which the drama of everyday life has been performed” (Patterson 2008:77). This lecture will discuss how soils and sediments, the building blocks of landscapes, are viewed as material “artifacts” by geoarchaeologists. Here is a rare opportunity to see the incredible Genius Preservem on a tour guided by Rollins College professor Bruce Stephenson. During this 2-hour walking tour of this local natural not open to the general public, you'll see many species of flora and the scenis grounds.
