Round Building Orlando Under Construction

Members of the Nils M. Schweizer Fellows, Central Florida Modern created a Next Round campaign (Website | Facebook) to save the honeycomb part of “round building” downtown. The organization is raising money to save the Brise Soleil and turn them into public art pieces around Orlando. The iconic building is being torn down to make way for the Dr. Phillips Performing Arts Center.

There are 120 precast brise soleil panels. Their goal is to save all 120. The organization says every $2,500 will go to save one panel. Once the panels have been saved the exact plans for placement will be worked out. We have posted one of the examples of the ideas for turning them into public art below. You can learn more about the project and donate on their website. They also have a great writeup on the history of the building.
