Firebirds Mills Park

Firebirds Wood Fired Grill (Website | Facebook ) plans to open in the large restaurant space in the front of Mills Park. The North Carolina restaurant doesn’t currently have any Florida locations. This would be their first.

Firebirds is owned by Dennis Thompson. Thompson is also the co-founder of Lone Star Steakhouse & Saloon and Fox and Hound.

Here is some additional information about Firebirds from a recent press release describing another one of their locations:

The restaurant features an indoor stone fireplace where guests can kick back fire side in the FIREBAR while enjoying a cocktail or appetizer. An impressive wall of backlit bottles lights up the bar, while upbeat music pulsing through the room gives off a cool, hip vibe. Dark woods, bold colors and stacked stone columns make for a cozy, dining room setting. Colorful tiles illuminated by the warm glow of candles in the ladies room make even the restrooms unique. The exposed kitchen showcases a flurry of activity, while smoky aromas from the hardwood flames infuse the restaurant.

A spokesperson for Firebirds tells us that they plan to have a patio area facing the new Fresh Market in Mills Park and are looking to try to open in the first quarter of 2014.

Firebirds menu  signature dishes include the Lobster Spinach Queso, BLT Salad, Firebirds Meatloaf, Pecan Crusted Trout and Crème Brulee Cheesecake. Firebirds also features its own private label red and white wines..

Firebirds will join the already open Fresh Market and a list of soon to be open tenants including:
