We told you back in August that Urban ReThink would be closing at the end of the month.
Today is their last day and Founding Director Darren McDaniel posted the following letter on their Facebook page:
Today, as we close the door on our operations at 625 E Central, I wanted to take a moment to honor the occasion and provide a brief update on the path ahead.
The Urban Think Foundation, the Urban ReThink team, and I remain committed toward continuing our efforts toward a greater Orlando. September has been a month of absorbing the new circumstances and exploring options. Now, we’re shifting our focus to defining and refining the next era.
In the interim, many of both our signature series and community partner programs will continue in alternate venues (–more specifics in a week or so). While I don’t anticipate continuing a coworking program on the near horizon, we are considering ways of continuing to gather for shared work sessions in other spaces.
Last week’s PechaKucha night allowed me an opportunity to collect and present my thoughts on the Urban ReThink adventure, and I wanted to share this narrated version of that talk with you today.
Thank you, Orlando, for these 2 1/2 incredible years…and stay tuned!
Darren McDaniel
Founding Director
Today they held their last public event, Creative Mornings. At the event entrepreneur Ted Murphy spoke about disconnecting from technology. Murphy had participants work in teams to accomplish a variety of tasks including saving the world…which in this case was an egg being dropped off the balcony. The event was part of the Creative Mornings series which will be held at a new location in November.
