Cousins Subs

Cousins Subs (Website | Facebook) is getting ready to open at the SoDo complex on S Orange Ave. in Downtown South.

They expect to open this location in the first week of October.

This is the first Cousins Subs location in Orlando. They Milwaukee based company has over 140 Cousins Subs shops in six states.

Cousins Subs says they stand out because of their bread. Hence their slogan “Better Bread. Better Subs. Better Day.”

Sara Rude, a spokesperson for Cousins Subs, says the difference is in “a secret recipe with the perfect taste and crunch. The original recipe is still closely followed at every Cousins Subs store, where each sandwich is made to order using freshly sliced deli meats, cheeses, and vegetables – and the bread is baked fresh each day,” she told Bungalower via e-mail.

She also noted that this store will also have a grill for hot sandwiches, such as a variety of cheesesteaks. Additionally they will have a fryer for fries and Wisconsin cheese curds.

The Orlando franchise is owned by Jack Evola. According to a press release Evola’s interest in owning a Cousins Subs restaurant started years ago while visiting family in Wisconsin.

“We made many trips to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to visit family that lived there,” Evola said in a e-mailed statment. “This is when I had my first exposure to Cousins Subs. Every time we came back to Milwaukee, we made it a priority to eat at Cousins Subs. They quickly became our favorite sub sandwiches”
