Dr Phillips Performing Arts Center on Ivanhoe

The Ivanhoe Foundation was set to receive just under $15,000 of  funding to help operate the Dr. Phillips Performing Arts Center at Ivanhoe. That was until the Foundation pulled their annual funding request just before the meeting.

The City Council agenda item noted that the funding was to provide services and programs including financial, maintenance, supplies, supervision and security.

“In addition to handling the day-to-day operation of the building, the Ivanhoe Foundation is responsible for lease negotiations, long-term maintenance and repairs, and addressing facility needs of the principal tenant: Orlando Ballet,” The agenda item read.

The only problem is that the Orlando Ballet and the other arts groups are not able to use the building now due to mold in the building. And from what the groups have told Bungalower none of them expect to return this year.

At the City Council Meeting today Mayor Buddy Dyer noted that the Foundation had pulled their funding request. “The Ivanhoe Foundation Board has elected to forgo the city’s contribution due to ongoing contractual discussions with the Orlando Ballet,” Dyer said at the meeting.

There was no other discussion at the meeting on the old OUC building.
