Orlando Car Share Location

Orlando’s Carshare program launches tomorrow with 12 Hertz 24/7 vehicles stationed in Downtown Orlando [GMap of Orlando Carshare Locations]

The  first phase of the program launches with six locations. Each location will have two vehicles for rental.

Rates will start at $8 an hour and vary depending on the vehicle. Fees include fuel and insurance. Prior enrollment in the program is required but that can be done online at Hertz247.com starting tomorrow. Residents will be able to book vehicles via their mobile phone or the Hertz website.

The Charshare Program is expected to be used by commuters and residents who have chosen a “car-lite” lifestyle for short trips throughout the day. It will also provide a much-needed mobility option for commuters riding SunRail and LYNX making it easier for those who are used to having their own car to run errands during the day.

A ribbon-cutting event with the City of Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer will be hosted tomorrow by reThink, the Florida Department of Transportation’s commuter assistance program.

Hertz was awarded the contract in August. The contract between Hertz and the state requires no funding from the state or city.
