Residence Inn Hotel Demolition

The demolition work for the new hotel on Orange Ave and Colonial Drive is underway [GMap].

The new $21 million seven-story hotel will be a Residence Inn by Marriott and will include a 4,000 square foot restaurant on the ground floor.

The hotel will be in an “L” shape and will wrap around the Mama B’s and will be on both Orange Ave and Colonial Drive but not on the corner itself.

The building being demolished was an office building facing Orange Ave.

  1. I guess I under estimate the profit margin on subs! 😉 My understanding is that the apartment developer also made them an offer that they refused.

  2. Looks like they purchased the building in 1977. I’m guessing it still makes money for them and they want to hold onto it.

  3. Because the offer they received from the developer didn’t make more financial sense for them than continuing to operate the business.

  4. Yeah… and I think a cool iconic gateway feature would be great at the intersection to help connect North Quarter, Downtown, Mills/50 and Creative Village.
