Rosalind Ave 108

Starting tomorrow (February 12) construction for the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts will cause the City to fully close Rosalind Ave by the construction site until Saturday, February 22, 2014.

The segment of road that will be closed is Rosalind Ave between Anderson Street and South Street [GMap].

The reason for the road closure is to replace the asphalt pavement in that area with steel reinforced concrete pavement.

“This will ensure a reliable pavement source for the public to travel on and to accommodate trailer trucks entering and exiting the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts loading dock via Rosalind Avenue,” the road closure notice from the city read.

This closure will impact a lot of commuters because Rosalind Ave is a main route into downtown for many people heading north on Orange Ave.

To make things more complicated there aren’t many other streets that will take you from Downtown South into Downtown Orlando.

The suggested detours are as follows:

  • Primary Detour — Heading north on Orange Ave in Downtown South take Gore Street west to Division Ave. From there you can take Division Ave up to Central Blvd and Central Blvd back to Rosalind Ave.
  • Secondary Detour — Once you cross under the 408 on Rosalind Ave you can head East on Anderson St to Summerlin Ave and then back west on South Street to Rosalind.

Here’s a look at a map of the detours:
