Bookmark It (Website | Facebook) is now open in East End Market at 3201 Corrine Drive [GMap].

The bookstore occupies the space in the first bay on the second floor of the market and will also have a book cart that will make an appearance in the downstairs area on the weekends.

Owner Kim Britt tells Bungalower that the store champions “the local writing community and extend the East End Market’s philosophy of buying local to include the written word and…carry a selection of books that support the individual missions of the market’s other vendors.”

Books in the bookstore tend to fit into two categories. Those that focus on the mission of East End and the vendors inside the market. This includes everything books on eating fresh and healthy, wine and cheese pairing books, cook books and urban gardening.

The other half are from local authors and Britt says they are always looking for submissions.

Bookmark It also has a book club for adults and one for teens.

A key point about their book club is they will being in the author for the discussion.

“Instead of wondering what the author was thinking you can ask,” Britt said.

The bookstore also features local book and word art along with recommendations from local personalities on what books they have been reading.

Every other Saturday you can find Bookmark It in the East End Market garden with their book cart.

The hours for Bookmark It are Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sundays noon to 5:00 p.m.
