Bungalower has learned that Lynx is piloting a real-time bus tracking website called LynxBusTracker.com.
The site allows users to track the arrival times for the next bus at the stops along the two LYMMO lines.
Users can go to LynxBusTracker.com on their phone or desktop computer to see when the next bus will be arriving at one of the stops for either of the free downtown bus lines.
The site displays the arrival time, in minutes, for the next few busses that will be arriving at the selected stop.
The site can also show a map with the current location for the busses that are on the two routes.
This is the same technology that shows the arrival times at 22 of the shelters along the route but not all stops have the real-time LED displays.
Lynx tells Bungalower that this is a pilot project for Lynx and that they hope to roll out the real-time information to all of their routes.
The application will also be expanded to allow you to set up alert notifications for specific stops and routes for a set time period and allow you to text a bus stop ID to 41411 to receive the real-time arrivals for that stop.
tracerbm Agree…Love the idea that you will be able to setup notifications for a set route/stop/time. So you can know how the bus is running if you rely on it to get to/from work.
This will be very handy if it gets rolled out to the other routes. The once-an-hour Links are especially prone to delays and this would be great to see where a particular bus is situated at a given time.
If it works, it’s a great idea!
now if only there was a SunRail app for the same thing!
