In a couple of recent stories we’ve mentioned bike sharing stations being planned for different areas.
A couple of our readers wrote in asking us when the bike share would be operational in Orlando.
This past fall we told you about the local company that won the contract from the City to bring bike sharing to Orlando and we even shared some of the locations they were looking at.
At the time we reported they would be ready to go by the time SunRail was starting. Well SunRail is here but still no bike share.
We reached out to Peter Martinez, friend of Bungalower and Program Director for Cycle Hop. He told us that while things got slightly delayed they are still on track to launch this year.
He told us that the main hurdle at this time is finding a few champions within the community to help sponsor the program.
The plan right now, Martinez says, is to order bikes next month and have everything up and running in December.
We’ll be sure to keep you posted once the stations begin to get installed.
