Firebirds Wood Fired Grill (Website | Facebook) opened this week at the Market at Mills Park in the Mills 50 District.

Firebirds is an American restaurant chain based in Charlotte, NC. This is their first Florida location.

They describe the restaurant as a “classic American restaurant known for its authentic wood fired entrees infused with bold flavors, fresh herbs and spices.”

We stopped in yesterday and from a chain perspective, we’d put it on par with CRAVE or Carmel Cafe. They call it a “polished casual” restaurant.

The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, and features a selection of steaks, seafood, chicken and ribs.

Their signature items include Firebirds BLT Salad, Slow Roasted Prime Rib, Chile Rubbed Delmonico, Wood Grilled Salmon, Lobster Spinach Queso and Creme Brulée Cheesecake.

From a price perspective, you can expect to spend $11-16 for a sandwich or burger and $18-30 for an entrée.

They feature a happy hour Monday through Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Their patio is still under construction but should be open next week.

Firebirds in Mills 50 is open from Sunday to Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and on Friday and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

  1. I went on Saturday and was extremely pleased at the ambiance, staff and taste of this new neighbor! The bar area (outdoor still under construction) is HUGE and perfect for social gathering, while the dining room with it’s carpet floors, servers in black and gorgeous stone work feels more high end than ‘tavern.’

Knocking off some points for them taking their ‘front’ row of parking for ‘complimentary parking’ via valet. If you offer this service, make your service ‘run’ for the cars…not walk. Extremely irritating. (Especially on a Saturday afternoon.)

Also, please note the food was DIVINE from my end, but my co-diner had a salad that had to much ‘kick’ for her pleasure. I was hoping that the server would offer a corrective alternative, something to smooth the palate, a hello from leadership – or best a removal from the bill. Sadly none of those things happened.

Interestingly enough – none of this will prevent me from wanting to return to what proves to be a home run for Mills50.

  2. My husband and I went for dinner during the soft opening. Great
Ambiance, staff, and it was delish! Nice addition to our neighborhood!

  3. Alex Corzo the parking is not that bad nugget! There is a parking garage right next to those apartments for additional parking. If your were looking at the new construction (some beer tap place) it is right behind that

  4. Tyler Sims come in Friday! I’m in the bar all day and the happy hour is amazing, 4-6:30.
