Downtown CREDO plans to open their first downtown location later this year.

At today’s grand opening of the Canvs space in the Church Street Exchange building, Mayor Buddy Dyer announced that Downtown CREDO would also be opening a shop in the building.

“One of the great coffee places in all of Orlando is CREDO,” Dyer said.

The new shop will be located in the lobby of the exchange.

To make more room for the shop and so that the lobby can also be used as an event venue, the escalators will be removed.

Downtown CREDO has a coffee shop in College Park and plans are in the works to add another CREDO location in Health Village on the Florida Hospital campus.

CREDO is a non-profit and at the shop you can name your price for coffee.

“We are built on the conviction that we’ll like our lives better when lived with meaning, impact and community,” Ben Hoyer, Executive Director of Downtown CREDO told Bungalower. “Our coffee creates a way for folks to reject their tendency toward apathy in the face of a large problem like the global coffee trade,” he added.

The money raised by Downtown CREDO goes to pay growers above fair trade, support non-profits in the Parramore community and build social enterprises in Orlando.

Hoyer says construction on the new Downtown Credo location in the Church Street Exchange building should start in October and will hopefully be open by the end of the year.

We’ll keep you posted on their progress.
