Here’s our rundown of the top ten things you need to know this week for Downtown Orlando and the surrounding bungalow neighborhoods.

  1. Ask Bungalower: Did the Florida Citrus Bowl change its name?. We took a look to see if the Florida Citrus Bowl changed their name after a reader alerted us. Turns out the City did change the name.
  2. Not much spare change in downtown meters for homeless. The homeless meters you see downtown have raised $2,027 since being installed three years ago. The meters cost $2,000 to install.
  3. OPD headquarters moving to west Parramore. We got a first look at what the new OPD headquarters will look like when it’s moved from the downtown core to west Parramore to make way for the Magic’s new sports and entertainment complex.
  4. New renderings for The Princeton Project at College Park. After meeting with the community, the developers of The Princeton at College Park have come back with some modified renderings for the apartment building.
  5. Red Lobster move makes new office tower more likely in downtown Orlando. The Red Lobsters HQ move to downtown could mean more office development activity including another CNL tower and Highwoods property on Pine Street.
  6. Gators Dockside to open at Sodo in Downtown South. Gators will take the corner space in the middle of the Sodo development. They hope to be open early next year.
  7. Island Time beer and wine bar to open in Thornton Park. The new bar will serve beer, wine and light bites in the former IZA Tapas Bar location. They plan to open later this month.
  8. Nora’s Sugar Shack opens on Virginia Drive in Ivanhoe Village. After moving from her space that became Elliot’s Public House. Nora has found a new location just down the street for her beer, wine and cigar shop.
  9. The sea’s bounty lures patrons to Thornton Park’s revamped Cityfish. The Orlando Weekly reviews Cityfish in Thornton Park.
  10. Tasty Chomps checks out Kappo at East End Market for lunch.
