Here’s our rundown of the top ten things you need to know this week in Downtown Orlando area news.

  1. The Yard mixed-use development planned for Ivanhoe Village. A local developer is looking to build a development off of Virginia Drive in Ivanhoe Village. Checkout the current conceptual site plan as we walk you though the plan for the multi-block development.
  2. World of Beer opens in Downtown Orlando. The new bar/restaurant has a large patio with great views of Lake Eola. Checkout out photo tour and their menu to learn more about the newest downtown hangout spot.
  3. Emeril Lagasse Foundation Kitchen House and Culinary Garden breaking ground in College Park. Some great non-profits are getting together to build a teaching kitchen and culinary garden at the Orlando Junior Academy.
  4. Burlington Coat Factory opens at Colonial Marketplace. The new store replaces what was Office Max and AC More.
  5. SunRail now available on Google Maps Transit. The new beta feature allows riders to use Google Maps to plot out their trip on both SunRail and Lynx.
  6. Kerouac House unveils new historic marker. The famous writer’s bungalow home in College Park is now home to a writer-in-residence program and now has a Florida historic marker.
  7. Megabus no longer operating in Downtown Orlando. The bus company has moved their stop from Downtown Orlando to Semoran Blvd and Colonial Drive.
  8. New Year’s Day Citrus Bowl game now the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl. The bowl game that was previously the Capital One Bowl will have the word “Citrus” added back into the name.
  9. Island Time beer and wine bar opens in Thornton Park. The new bar is focused on providing a relaxed atmosphere in the heart of Thornton Park to grab a drink and some light snacks.
  10. Scott Joseph says Green Day Cafe in North Quarter won’t win any prizes for food presentation, but it deserves praise for doing good while serving good food.
