Popular running routes in Orlando have been mapped in a partnership between Mapbox and RunKeeper.
Garrett Miller, avid runner and developer for Mapbox, began the project as a way to find the best running paths while traveling. The project now encompasses the globe.
The map visualizes the first 200 meters of each route. The brightest routes represent the most popular routes.
A map of 1.5 million runs from around the world can be found on Mapbox’s website.
Strava, another web-based service that maps running and biking activity, published this map last month.
The Regional Planning Council has developed a “Roadway Condition” algorithm to assess the overall safety and accessibility of roadway segments with ArcGIS. Overlaying that data with this mobile data would be outstanding.
